Beer Batter Onion Rings
Ingredients needed:
1 white onion, sliced
1 cup self-rising flour
1/3 cup yellow cornmeal
1 tsp salt
1 cup Shiner beer
1 tsp Cholula
Vegetable oil for frying
How to make Onion Rings Beer Batter
Separate onion into rings.
In a large bowl, combine onion and 2 tablespoons flour.
In separate bowl, combine remaining 1 cup flour, cornmeal and salt.
Add beer and Cholula, whisking until combined.
In large skillet heat oil.
In batches, remove onion rings and dip in beer mixture.
Carefully place in hot oil and fry until golden brown (approximately 3 minutes.)
Pro tip: If you arenβt a fan of beer or donβt have any in the fridge, you can use a carbonated beverage as a substitute. Anything from soda, club soda or ginger ale will work.
