Canton Texas Glamping
We stayed at Silver Spur Resort last Spring in one of the Conestoga wagons and it was a fun and unique vacation destination. So when we heard they had built a treehouse, I had to book a weekend trip with my son.
The resort offers a wide array of accommodations that include tent camping, RV hookups, private deluxe cabins with bathrooms, Conestoga wagons, and a treehouse.
Texas Treehouse
I LOVE camping. And by camping, I mean glamping. I want to enjoy all the wonderful things about nature, but then come to a clean, air-conditioned lodging with a bathroom!
This is exactly what the Treehouse at Silver Spur Resort has.
There was something so magical and fun about staying in the treehouse. As we climbed the stairs and got our first glimpse inside the treehouse, I was blown away by the combination of a natural and modern feel.
The treehouse has a rustic decor with a queen bed, bunk beds, table, coffee maker, and private bathroom.
I enjoyed my morning and evening sitting out on the wrap-around porch while enjoying the Birdseye view of the resort.
The treehouse is also stocked with games, puzzles, bags for corn holes and gas firepit. Of course, we had to play multiple times a day!
What to do at Canton KOA Silver Spur Resort
Chuckwagon Dinner
The resort puts on a monthly chuckwagon dinner and it’s an event you don’t want to miss! It’s best to buy tickets in advance, as they can sell out.
The dinner includes a buffet-style dinner of ribs, chicken, potato salad, rolls, and beans that are cooked over the campfire. For dessert, they make a dutch oven peach cobbler that is made over the campfire. You will be dreaming of that dessert for days!
After dinner, relax under the stars, listen to live music, and enjoy a glass of wine.
Yard Games
Yard games can be found throughout the property. They have everything from corn hole, horseshoes, basketball court, sand volleyball, hula hoop toss, and human foosball.
Swimming
This is a given! These Texas summers can be brutal and a dip in the resort pool is the perfect place to cool off and relax after playing all the yard games.
It’s a large pool with plenty of room for the kids to splash and burn off energy. I preferred to lay out and catch some rays.

Fishing
This is by far my son’s favorite activity. We went fishing every morning and right at sunset. With two stocked ponds filled with largemouth bass, catfish, and perch you can almost guarantee you will catch something.
The smaller pond has plenty of shade and picnic tables, making it a wonderful place to relax, regardless if you have a pole in the water or not.
Q and Brew
Dining at Q and Brew is an absolute must! Menu items include traditional BBQ, huge hamburgers, salads, and Silver Spur Resort’s ranch-brewed beers, local craft brews, and assorted Texas wines.
Your dining experience starts with a bang when they serve up spicy beans and cornbread drizzled with honey. The only bad part is making a decision on what you want for the main course.
This resort gives you the glamping feel, located just a short drive from downtown Canton, but close enough to explore the town, shop, and even visit the local waterpark.
