Hiking is one of my favorite things to do and a fun way to see the natural beauty. There are endless hiking trails in Texas for all fitness levels.
This peaceful park features 7 miles of trail, most of them shaded, with gorgeous views of Lake Travis.
Primitive camping and horses are allowed at the park.
Swim at Krause Springs
The Texas heat can be unbearable at times. So in the summer months, taking a dip in Krause Springs is a wonderful way to cool off. This natural swimming hole near Austin is a great place to swim, picnic, and relax.
There are 32 springs, so plenty of places to swim, even on a busy day.
Cliff Diving at Pace Bend Park
For those looking for adventure can head to Pace Bend Park. It’s located on the shores of Lake Travis, visitors can climb atop the limestone cliffs and allow a great place to leap into the water.
There are signs posted in the area that cliff jumping can be dangerous and jump at your own risk.
Those not feeling that adventurous can find a spot by the water to sunbathe and watch the action from the lakeside.

There are numerous waterfalls in Texas. What I like about Westcave Preserve is that it’s less crowded than other swimming holes like Jacob’s Well or Hamilton Pool Preserve.

Explore Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area
This is one of the best places to see the Texas bluebonnets each spring.
The area has over 10 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and camping.

Boating at The Narrows
The Narrows Recreation Area is a large park located on the banks of the Colorado River.
