Last weekend we spent the day at The Gaylord Texan freezing our tush off! It was truly a winter wonderland. The theme this year at ICE! is Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town and it is a sight to see.
Before you enter to see the sculptures you are given a heavy parka so that you can enjoy seeing 2 millions pounds of ice carvings that they keep chilled at 9 degrees. I advise bringing gloves and a hat for your ears! I didn’t think to pack a hat for Carson, so I picked one up at the gift shop that is conveniently located at the entrance.
While inside we enjoyed looking at all of the sculptures and watching Carson slide on the ice slide. After that we hit up the indoor snow tubing hill. It was an absolute blast! Carson and I rode in the double tubes multiple times and I had just as much fun as he did.
They also offer ice skating at an outdoor rink, Santa’s Snowball throwing, milk & cookies with Mrs. Claus, gingerbread decorating and an Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt! We didn’t have time to do everything, so I think we head back to the Gaylord in December for more Christmas fun – the events go on daily until Jan. 1.
We will definitely be making this part of our Christmas tradition from now on!
Have you been to ICE! in Grapevine? What was your favorite part?
