It’s 23 days of rodeos, livestock events, and family entertainment!
The legendary Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo began in 1896 and has grown into a staple event for Fort Worth locals and visitors from around the globe.
The event takes place every year from mid-January through early February.
The FWSSR has everything from a variety of rodeos, midway, shopping, animal presentations and so much more.
Texas is known for its cowboy culture, but Fort Worth is known as Cowtown.
Fort Worth is the epicenter for all things Western lifestyle, and the best way to experience the cowboy culture is by attending the annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

5 Things to Do at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo
Stock Show
Each day during the FWSSR offer a wide variety of livestock shows that happen throughout the day.
Visitors can enjoy everything shows about cattle, poultry, swine, rabbits, steers and more! The livestock show is where the livestock are exhibited and judged.
It’s a fun experience seeing kids show off their animals and all the hard work they put it into raising them.
Other free events to watch include cutting horse classes, miniature horse shows, donkey and mule shows, roping classes, cowboy-mounted shooting, barrel racing, and more.
Rodeo
My son always has to stop and play at the Reliant Energy Calf Roping Dummies before heading inside Dickies Arena. Both kids and adults alike will enjoy trying out their roping skills!
Be sure to stop by the Reliant’s Bull Riding photo opportunity before the rodeo! He had to hop on a life-size bucking bull and snap a photo.
I love that there is a team member in the booth who is willing to take your photo!
I like that the FWSSR has a variety of rodeo options. You can purchase tickets to the Ranch Rodeo, Cowboys of Color Rodeo, Texas champions challenge, Best of Mexico celebracion, Bulls Night Out, pro rodeo tournament, and mustang magic.
They have something that everyone will enjoy!
Live Music
Throughout the event, guests can enjoy concerts that are held in the Will Rogers Auditorium. A concert ticket includes FWSSR grounds admission.
Each year the lineup changes of big bands that perform. It’s best to purchase tickets to the concerts early as many sell out and are popular tickets.
Midway
Thrill seekers looking to attend the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo will want to spend a few hours enjoying the carnival. This classic fairground carnival includes rides, games, and of course, Texas-sized food!
This is also the area you will find the petting zoo and pony rides which all the kids will enjoy.
Visitors will need to purchase a Magic Money card or wristband. They are reusable, reloadable RFID cards that can be used as payment for carnival rides, games, and food.
Guests can purchase the Magic Money wristbands for $50. It includes 50 credits that can be used for rides or food in the midway and admission to the stock show grounds.
Shopping and Dining
Shopping is scattered throughout the stock showgrounds. However, inside the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall is the largest shopping location.
Be prepared to spend a few hours shopping at all the vendors, sitting on tractors, trying on boots at Cavender’s, and sampling food.
This is also a great area to charge your phone if needed. There are Reliant charging stations located throughout the rodeo grounds, however, we always stop and take a break & get a snack in the exhibit halls. So it’s a convenient time for me to charge my phone when needed.
