You’re going camping for the first time, whether with the family, your friends, or on your own. As such, the pressure is on!

Camping is all about being wild and embracing the great outdoors! You want to make sure you get involved with this natural side of living as much as possible while you’ve got the chance!
And because of all that, it can be quite hard to plan an itinerary for your camping trip. You’re a bit spoiled for choice, and you’re also not quite sure about the best things to do when you want to enjoy the wilderness. But we’ve got a few ideas for you! Check them out below.

Hiking
Hiking is the number one outdoor activity, no matter where you are or what it is you like to do. Because when you’re outside, dug down into the mud and grass and kicking moss off your boots every 5 seconds, you mostly have to go by foot!
But when you’re camping, you have to embrace the dirt, as well as how slow it can be to really explore the world around you.
So, when you rock up to an RV park and see that they’ve got signposted hiking trails all around, make sure you’ve packed the best boots for the job. And make sure your water bottle is filled up and you’ve got some protein in the bag for snacking!

Fishing
Ever been fishing before? If you’ve never been camping either, probably not! So why not try it out when you’re pitching a tent for the first time? If you’re not interested in catching fish to eat, once you reel something in, you can put it straight back.
Of course, you’re going to need to get yourself a fishing license first of all. These apply by state as well, so make sure the license you have is applicable to the place you’re camping in.
Then, double check any local rules there may be. If you need to, you should be able to ask someone around the campground, whether you’re talking to a fellow camper or staff member.

Exploring Natural History
This is something to keep an eye out for when you go hiking. Look up the history of the area beforehand, both in terms of the people who have lived there across history, as well as how the area itself formed millions of years ago.
There are usually still plenty of signs of the history of these things all around, and you’ll be able to spot them if you know what you’re looking for. And if you’ve done a little bit of research in advance, you’ll know just how amazing these natural sights really are too.
Going camping for the first time? Pack your itinerary with activities that get you deep into nature. Make sure you’ve packed the right gear for hiking, make sure you’ve got the right license for fishing, and make sure you get to know the area you’re camping in!
