We spent a long, relaxing weekend out at Beaumont Ranch, an 800 acre cattle ranch. There is just something about spending time in the country with no computers or cell phones (Chad decided to go swimming with his in his pocket on the first day!) We stayed in a beautiful cabin overlooking a pasture of about 100 grazing longhorns. It doesn’t get any more Texan than that!
Each morning we walked over to the cafe for a big country breakfast before we went fishing. Then it was off to see the goats and horses. Carson rode several of the horses on a trail, which was the highlight of
the trip for him…or maybe getting stuck in the middle of the pond on a
paddle boat. There are several large ponds for fishing, a resort style pool, ATV rides, zip lines and horseback riding. And not to mention plenty of dirt and rocks for Carson to dig in.
Friday night, we enjoyed a big fish fry and danced with my favorite little guy. The restaurant also had a indoor bounce house and arcade games to entertain the kids. Each evening we went for a little stroll through Western Town, which reflects what Texas looked like during the 1800’s when cowboy’s drove cattle on the Chisolm Trail.
This place is truly a step back in time and a wonderful place to unwind and get out of the city for awhile. We plan on going back in the Fall and watching some high school football in the area.
