Vegas will always hold a special place in my heart. It is where we got married a little over 11 years ago (not by Elvis) and my husband graduated as a proud Runnin’ Rebel. Not only is my four year old counting down until he gets to go to UNLV, but Chad also designed the statue and relief panels of the Coach Jerry Tarkanian statue.
The main stop on our recent road trip was Vegas. Seeing the statue that my husband designed – which is the #1 basketball statue in the US – was such an honor. Although this trip and seeing his artwork brought so many mixed emotions I am so glad we were able to do so.
Of course since we were in Vegas we had to stop and do a few touristy things as well. I even gambled a whopping $5 – because when in Vegas…I may have lost my $5, but enjoyed the time in Sin City. We drove Carson around the city, walked the stripped, ate lunch with friends and introduced him to the sounds of the casinos. He was instantly hooked after his first buffet and playing games in the arcade.
We will be hitting the road later in the year to view other statues he has throughout the country, but I have a feeling this will be my favorite.
