We live about 30 miles from Dallas but usually only venture to that side of town about once a year. Traffic is horrible and takes at least an hour each way, so it never seems worth it. But now that Carson is older and loves to go on new adventures, my mom and I decided to play tourist in Dallas over the weekend.
First stop was hopping on the commuter train to Dallas, which was a huge hit with Carson. We took it down to Reunion Tower, where they have an observation deck at the top. I have always wanted to go up in “the ball” and thought it was the coolest building as a child.
We were on an elevator with about 20 other people and the employee didn’t have to say her speech because my little guy informed everyone all about his train ride. He is so animated and funny that the lady thanked him for being more entertaining than she would have been.
It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, so we were able to see for miles. It’s so fun to see a city from a different perspective. After we walked around the deck about 15 times we headed to the West End for dinner at Spaghetti Warehouse. Then it was back on the train to head home.
With so many museums, parks and festivals I think we will be exploring the other side of the metroplex more.
Do you ever play tourist in your own city?
