A couple of weekends ago we went to
the Spring Into Nash event at Nash Farm in Grapevine. This farm is the oldest operating farmstead in
Tarrant County and dates back to 1859. This event focused on historic settings
and gave the kids a lot of hands on experience. They had everything from farm
animals, wagon rides, pony rides, blacksmith demonstrations, jump rope making
and homemaking skills.
favorite activity was learning to wash clothes using a washboard and hanging
them on the line with a clothes pin. He did this for about 15 minutes before we
dragged him away so we could tour the old farm house.
wood-burning stove cooking demonstrations. I don’t know what they were making,
but man oh man did it smell delicious! I love history and seeing how early
settlers live is just fascinating. They have a similar event in the fall, so we
will definitely have to check that out as well.
