It’s funny how certain scents can bring back a flood of memories. Laundry soap does that for me. As a child some of my fondest memories were spent at my Memaw’s house, where she lived in an old railroad depot off a dirt road. She let us kids help with chores and for some reason I loved doing laundry with her! We would haul the towels out back and hang them on the old rusty clothes line while the clean, crisp scent of the laundry soap filling the air as the wind blew. It’s funny that even though those days are long gone, the smell of freshly cleaned clothes brings me back to that open field.
I had to stop by Walmart recently because I was out of laundry soap and needed to get all our clothes cleaned and packed for an upcoming vacation. I decided on Suavital® Fragance Pearls™ in-wash scent boosters. They had two choices: field flowers and lavender that are both 5x longer lasting fragrance. I also picked up Suavitel® liquid fabric conditioner to keep my clothes feeling extra soft. (They also had samples of this in the store.) The smell of the field flowers brought back such sweet memories!
With several upcoming vacations, I needed a laundry bag to take on trips to keep the dirty clothes separated from the clean. I really don’t like putting dirty clothes back in the suitcase with clean clothes – that just makes more work for me when we get home!
To make a DIY laundry bag you will need:
2 yards of ribbon or cording
Simply turn the pillowcase inside out. Use seam ripper to open one seam about 2″ long. Take your ribbon and attach the safety pin. Now slide the ribbon through the casing until completed threaded. Tie the ribbon together at the end. Bam, 5 minute laundry bag complete!
